Etsy Up 2026 was Etsy’s fifth annual seller event held on September 24th, 2026. Etsy brought in employees from seller marketing, analytics, research, social media, merchandising, and other teams to talk about new tools, buyer behavior, holiday trends, and ways sellers can grow their shops. The event also included an interview with Etsy CEO Kruti Patel Goyal, seller stories, a Gen Z buyer panel, social media Q&A, and the reveal of 150 Etsy Design Awards finalists. There was a lot packed in. The trick is separating the useful stuff from the corporate confetti (it was thick, lol). If you missed Etsy Up 2026, I’m going to save you some time with this recap. There were some genuinely useful updates buried in there, along with plenty of polished filler, loud background music, and a “live” experience that was a whole lot more scripted and recorded than live.

So instead of giving you a minute-by-minute recap, I pulled out the Etsy Up 2026 updates that actually matter to sellers. We’ll discuss what changed, what Etsy says it’s working on, what buyers told Etsy researchers, and what I think is worth paying attention to next. Let’s do this!
Etsy Up 2026 at a Glance
- Etsy introduced an AI-powered Stats Assistant for shop performance questions.
- Shared Access gives sellers a safer way to bring in help.
- Etsy added more data and tools to Marketplace Insights and Shop Stats.
- Etsy shared new Gen Z buyer and social media insights.
- New 2026 holiday trend data gives sellers some potentially useful product ideas.
That’s the short version. If that’s all you needed, congratulations! I just gave you back an hour of your life, lol. You’re welcome. But if you want more detail, the rest of the article breaks down these updates and explains what actually matters to Etsy sellers.
What Is Etsy Stats Assistant?
Etsy Stats Assistant is a new AI-powered tool in Shop Manager that gives sellers personalized recommendations based on their shop data. This one is exciting and is something I’m seeing in a lot of different places, so it was cool to see Etsy has embraced this idea. Etsy Stats Assistant is an AI-powered feature that will answer questions using your actual shop data instead of giving generic seller advice. Etsy Up 2026 gave examples like asking why sales are declining, where to focus next, or whether there may be demand for a new product idea before you spend time creating it.
How Etsy Stats Assistant Is Different From Generic AI Advice
The important part is the personalization. Etsy says Stats Assistant uses your actual shop data, which could make it more useful than asking a generic AI tool, “Why are my Etsy sales down?” and getting the usual grab bag of SEO, photos, pricing, and Mercury being in retrograde. If it works properly, it should be able to analyze your shop data and tell you things specific to you. That could definitely be useful!
Of course, Stats Assistant is still in beta and is only available to a small group of sellers for now. Etsy Up 2026 said it is expected to roll out more broadly. It said that the Etsy Stats Assistant would be found in your Shop Stats section of Shop Manager as it rolls out. I looked, and it’s not in mine, but if you have it in yours, I’d definitely be interested in hearing about it!
Are Marketplace Insights and Shop Stats Improving?
Yes. Etsy announced several improvements to Shop Stats and Marketplace Insights at Etsy Up 2026, including faster stats loading, new performance summaries, search conversion data, price-range insights, and longer trend windows. Shop Stats is supposed to load faster and more reliably, especially for high-volume shops, and Etsy is testing performance summaries that call out important changes. There is also a new Shop Stats graph that puts key metrics side by side, making it easier to compare performance and spot changes.

Marketplace Insights is where things get more interesting. Etsy Up 2026 said it’s testing listing price ranges that show what buyers actually spent after a search, plus a search conversion rate that shows how often a search leads to a purchase. Sellers can also save up to 50 searches, watch week-over-week changes, and look at 30-day, 90-day, and one-year trend windows.
Why Search Conversion Rate Matters
Search volume by itself only tells you that people are looking. Search conversion starts answering the much more useful question: are they buying? That is a much better signal when you’re deciding whether a keyword or product idea is worth chasing. I plan on doing more articles diving into this feature now that I have this version in my account. Stay tuned!
What Are Quick Fill Listings On Etsy?
Etsy Quick Fill is a new listing form that uses information you’ve already added, like photos and descriptions, to suggest or prefill fields such as titles, tags, attributes, and shipping details. These suggestions are optional and editable, which is important. You still get to decide whether Etsy’s idea is brilliant or whether it has temporarily lost its mind. I have a feeling the latter might be true starting out, lol.

Keep in mind that when they roll something out like this, do NOT change listings that are already performing well. We saw this happen last year with the shorter title suggestions, and that was a disaster for many successful shops. I would not make these types of changes to listings that are already converting unless Etsy makes the change mandatory. No need to change what is working! With that warning out of the way, Etsy is currently testing Quick Fill in beta. Some sellers may already see it when creating a new listing, but it is not yet available to everyone (of course, lol).
What New Personalization Tools Did Etsy Add?
Etsy added several personalization tools that make it easier for sellers to offer custom products, charge for certain personalized options, reuse those settings across listings, and manage them in bulk. Etsy Up 2026 highlighted updates that give sellers more flexibility when offering personalized products. Sellers can now create custom options for things like names, dates, messages, font choices, colors, and other buyer selections, then reuse those options across multiple listings instead of rebuilding them every time.
One of the more useful changes is the ability to charge extra for personalized text. So if adding a name, date, or custom message requires more work, sellers can build that extra cost into the personalization option instead of trying to work around it with awkward variations. Etsy also says sellers can make bulk changes to custom options and manage them directly in the Etsy Seller app, which should make this a lot more practical for shops with several personalized products.
Are Etsy’s New Personalization Tools Available Now?
Unlike Quick Fill, Etsy did not describe these personalization tools as a limited beta during Etsy Up. The way they presented them made them sound like active features sellers can already use, although availability can still vary as Etsy rolls updates through different accounts.
What Is Shared Access On Etsy?
Etsy Shared Access is a new feature that lets shop owners invite another person to help manage listings, orders, and messages through their own Etsy account without sharing the shop owner’s login or sensitive financial information. It was one of the most practical announcements of the event, especially for sellers who use a VA, employee, partner, or family member to help run the shop.

Instead of sharing your Etsy login, password, and everything else that goes with it, Shared Access lets you invite someone through their own Etsy account. They can help manage listings, orders, and messages while sensitive financial information stays private. Etsy says sellers can manage access from Shop Manager under Settings > Shared Access. You can read Etsy’s official details here: Etsy Shared Access. I plan on creating an article on this soon, showing the VA side of Shared Access, so stay tuned!
Is Etsy Shared Access Available to Everyone?
Shared Access is currently in beta, and Etsy said it is rolling out to all sellers soon. I can already see it in my own Shop Manager, which is a good sign, lol. Etsy usually rolls major updates out to me later than many of the sellers I talk to in our communities, so seeing it in my account suggests the rollout may already be fairly broad.
What Are Etsy’s Four Strategic Priorities for 2026?
Etsy CEO Kruti Patel Goyal said Etsy’s four strategic priorities for 2026 are showing up where shoppers discover, improving buyer-product matching, highlighting human connection, and building loyalty. If you watched Etsy Up 2026, you may have missed this because much of her segment was spent doing a round-robin of her office and all the things on Etsy she bought for her office, lol. I actually think that office tour has a lesson for sellers of its own, but that’s an article for another day.
Show Up Where Shoppers Discover

This is the one that caught my attention most. Etsy specifically mentioned social media and agentic commerce, meaning Etsy wants seller products to appear in more of the places where shoppers now discover and increasingly buy things. That matters because discovery is no longer just someone typing a phrase into Etsy search. Social media, Google, AI tools, and other discovery channels are all becoming part of the same bigger picture.
Improve Buyer-Product Matching
Etsy says it wants to get better at matching shoppers with products that fit their tastes and interests. That is not exactly a shocking revelation (matching buyers with products is kind of the whole gig, lol), but it does reinforce how much Etsy is leaning into personalization and recommendation systems. This is something as sellers we really have to pay attention to. Etsy is increasingly trying to understand what a shopper is likely to want, not just what exact keyword they typed.
Highlight Human Connection

Etsy repeatedly came back to the human side of selling. Things like who you are, why you create, how you make your products, and the process behind them. Earlier in the event, Etsy encouraged sellers to update shop bios, About sections, photos, and process videos. Etsy also said its teams look at seller stories when deciding which shops to feature in marketing emails and other placements.
This is important. A seller bio and About section may not be required to make sales, but if Etsy is actively using that information when choosing shops to feature, then leaving those sections blank could mean leaving exposure on the table. So yeah, I’d damn sure fill them out, lol.
Build Loyalty
The final priority is building longer-term relationships between Etsy and buyers, Etsy and sellers, and sellers and their own customers. That lines up with another point from the CEO interview. She mentioned that Etsy brings in a lot of new customers during the holidays, so sellers should think about how to re-engage those buyers instead of treating every holiday order as a one-and-done transaction.
What Did Etsy Up 2026 Reveal About Gen Z Buyers?
Etsy’s research suggests Gen Z buyers value creativity, community, individuality, quality, and meaningful purchases, while also being more price-conscious than millennials. Etsy Up 2026 also said Gen Z shoppers use purchases as a form of self-expression and are especially interested in art and design, fashion and beauty, pop culture and fandoms, and gaming and tech.
What Matters Most to Gen Z Shoppers on Etsy?
Etsy said nearly four in 10 Gen Z shoppers in its broader research earn under $35,000, compared with three in 10 millennials, which makes them more selective about where their money goes. At the same time, Etsy found that creativity and community rank highly for this group, along with supporting small independent makers, sustainability, and products that feel meaningful or personal. The buyer panel reinforced that. Panelists talked about wanting to see the person behind the product, understand the materials and quality, and find things that feel specific to them rather than mass-produced. Customization, handmade details, and products that felt hard to find anywhere else came up repeatedly.
There is one giant caveat here that needs to be said. A three-person buyer panel is not the entire Gen Z population, so I wouldn’t redesign my whole shop because one person likes Game Boy keychains, lol. The broader research is more useful than any individual comment. Still, the overall message was pretty consistent with Etsy’s larger strategy of showing the maker, showing the process, making the product feel distinct, and giving people a reason to care who made it.
What Social Media Advice Did Etsy Share at Etsy Up 2026?
Etsy’s main social media advice for sellers is to keep content simple, show the process behind your products, make the person behind the shop visible, and use clear calls to action that make it easy for followers to reach your Etsy shop. The social media panel wasn’t revolutionary, but there were several practical reminders, especially for sellers who tend to overcomplicate content.

Show the Process, Not Just the Product
The Etsy Up 2026 social team repeatedly encouraged sellers to use behind-the-scenes content, listing photos, making videos, packing clips, sourcing footage, and even mistakes or changes of plan as content. They also said you don’t have to show your face. Using just your hands, voice, or your workspace can still help buyers connect with the person behind the shop. That’s important for sellers who shy away from being in front of the camera.
Make It Easy for Followers to Reach Your Shop
Etsy recommended keeping the path from social media to your shop as simple as possible, ideally within a few clicks. They suggested clear bio links, direct CTAs, and using Share & Save links when appropriate. We’ll discuss Share & Save links, as well as Etsy’s Creator Collective, later in this article.
Pay Attention to What People Actually Engage With
The Etsy Up panel also suggested watching saves, shares, comments, audience demographics, and active times. Don’t just guess what content is working. Pay attention to what your audience is telling you and make more of what gets a response. This is standard advice for marketing through socials, but it served as a good reminder.
What Is Etsy Creator Collective?
Etsy Creator Collective is an affiliate-style program that lets approved creators earn commission by promoting products from across Etsy, including products from their own shop. To qualify, Etsy Up 2026 said creators need at least 500 followers on a supported social channel and can earn a 10% commission on eligible purchases.
This one caught me off guard. Share & Save has been around, but Creator Collective was new to me (maybe I just missed it, lol). If you’re already creating social media content, product roundups, gift guides, trend posts, or anything else that features Etsy products, this could be worth looking at.
How Is Etsy Creator Collective Different From Share & Save?
Share & Save rewards sellers for driving eligible sales to their own Etsy shop through a trackable link. Creator Collective is broader because approved creators can earn commission from promoting items across Etsy, including products from other sellers.

Etsy said you can only earn from one program for a given transaction. So you would not stack Creator Collective commission on top of Share & Save for the same order. Which one makes more sense really depends on what you are promoting. If you mainly send people to your own shop, Share & Save is the simpler fit. If you regularly recommend products from across Etsy, Creator Collective is probably the more interesting option. Etsy has an official comparison of Share & Save and Creator Collective if you want the program details straight from the source.
What Holiday Trends Did Etsy Share at Etsy Up 2026?
Etsy highlighted five holiday trends for 2026. They were World of Whimsy, Soft Stitch Era, Future Heirlooms, Sensory Maxing, and Analog Resurgence. What made this segment useful was that Etsy attached actual marketplace data to the trends instead of just waving its hands around and saying, “this is hot right now.”
Is Whimsy Still Trending on Etsy?

Yes. Etsy said the playful, slightly unexpected World of Whimsy style it has been watching through spring and summer is carrying into the holidays. Favorites on non-traditional and whimsical wall hangings and ornaments were up 62% year over year, while favorites on vintage brooches were up 35%. The bigger takeaway is that buyers are still responding to products and styling that feel fun, distinctive, and a little unexpected.
What Is Etsy’s Soft Stitch Era Trend?
Soft Stitch Era is Etsy’s name for the continued interest in crochet, embroidery, chunky knits, stitched decor, and other visible handmade textures. Sales of embroidered items were up 25% year over year, while sales of embroidered gift tags were up 75%. This one fits pretty neatly with Etsy’s broader message about showing the handmade process. If the stitching, texture, or craftsmanship is part of what makes the product special, buyers should be able to see that clearly.
What Does Etsy Up 2026 Mean by the Future Heirlooms Trend?
Future Heirlooms refers to products that feel meaningful enough to keep beyond one season. Etsy Up 2026 used examples like personalized ornaments, milestone keepsakes, vintage pieces, and other items that feel like they could become part of someone’s family story. They said searches for heirloom-related terms were up 24%, while sales tied to those terms were up nearly 40%. Vintage kitchenware sales were also up 20% year over year. That’s a useful reminder that buyers are not always looking for the cheapest or newest thing. Sometimes the appeal is that something feels worth keeping.
What Is Sensory Maxing on Etsy?

The Sensory Maxing trend is all about texture, scent, weight, softness, beads, layered materials, and other tactile details that make a product feel interesting beyond how it looks. Etsy said favorites on sensory items were up 40%. The seller takeaway was pretty simple. If texture, scent, weight, or another sensory detail helps sell your product, make sure buyers can understand that. Sadly, Etsy has not yet figured out how to let shoppers reach through the screen and pet the blanket, lol.
What Is Etsy’s Analog Resurgence Trend?
Analog Resurgence is Etsy’s term for buyers leaning into offline hobbies and activities. Products like board games, playing cards, journaling, and other things that get people away from a screen for a while. Sales of analog games, including board games and playing cards, were up 31%, while vintage journaling supplies were also growing. This trend is less about one specific product style and more about the broader appeal of slowing down, making things by hand, and spending time on hobbies that feel a little more real-world.
Sound familiar? This is basically Etsy’s version of Pinterest’s Great Offline trend, which Pinterest announced during Pinterest Presents 2026. I covered that trend (along with the other major takeaways) in my Pinterest Presents 2026 recap.
Should Etsy Sellers Chase Every Trend?
No. One point from Etsy’s merchandising team that I agree with is that sellers don’t need to chase every trend. Etsy specifically said the opportunity is to interpret a trend through your own materials, motifs, craftsmanship, and point of view rather than trying to copy whatever is popular that week.
In other words, please don’t slap a bow, a mushroom, and three sardines on everything, lol. If a trend genuinely fits what you already make, use it. If it doesn’t, stay in your lane.
What Other Updates Came Out of Etsy Up 2026?
Etsy Up 2026 also included updates to seller finances, reminders about the importance of seller stories, and the reveal of this year’s Etsy Design Awards finalists. None of these were as big as Shared Access or Stats Assistant, but they are still worth noting.
What Changed in Etsy’s Payment Account?
Etsy Up 2026 said it has consolidated parts of the Payment Account. Sellers can more easily see what’s available, what’s still pending, their totals, and any actions needed to keep deposits moving. They also said some sales-related fees, including payment processing and transaction fees, now stay in sync with earnings. These are applied when the seller is paid for the sale rather than being deducted from deposits immediately. A more detailed transaction view is also coming. That will show everything that went into an individual transaction without requiring sellers to hunt through separate line items.
Do Etsy Seller Stories Affect Visibility?
Possibly more than sellers realize. Etsy encouraged sellers to update their Shop Team area, About story, and process photos or videos. Etsy teams look at those details when choosing sellers to feature in marketing emails and placements around the site. It’s probably worth taking seriously if your About section has not been touched since 2018.
What Happened With the Etsy Up 2026 Design Awards?
Etsy revealed 150 Design Awards finalists. They removed the traditional categories this year, opened People’s Pick voting, and said the grand prize winner will receive $25,000. Etsy said the winners will be announced in November.
Was Etsy Up 2026 Actually Live?

Etsy Up 2026 had a live chat, but much of the presentation itself appeared prerecorded and tightly scripted. This part isn’t really an Etsy seller update, but it was definitely part of the experience. Etsy encouraged people to participate in the live chat throughout the event. And boy did they, lol! But the presentation itself felt heavily scripted and produced. The CEO interview was explicitly recorded a few days before the event. The seller questions had been submitted in advance. And most of the program moved through polished handoffs rather than true live interaction. Needless to say, the chat let their feelings be known, lol.
The chat was full of viewers pointing that out and asking why there was so little opportunity to actually participate. I think this was a missed opportunity for Etsy. There were also plenty of complaints about the background music being too loud in places, as well as distracting. None of that makes the useful information wrong. It just made a long event feel even longer. Which is why you are reading this instead, lol.

My Takeaways From Etsy Up 2026
Etsy Up 2026 was not a giant “everything changes tomorrow” event. Most of what Etsy showed was incremental. Better data, less repetitive work, safer team access, and more ways to understand what buyers are doing are priorities. But taken together, the direction is pretty clear. Etsy wants sellers to use more data. It wants listings to be easier to create. Human storytelling should be incorporated around products. It wants sellers promoting beyond Etsy search. And it’s openly thinking about social discovery and agentic commerce as places where Etsy products need to appear. That last piece may end up being more important than anything announced on stage.
So no, Etsy didn’t suddenly become perfect overnight. I checked, lol. But the company is investing in tools to help sellers understand demand, reach more buyers, and spend less time doing repetitive work. If you are still trying to decide whether Etsy makes sense for your business at all, I have a separate breakdown of the pros and cons of selling on Etsy that may help with that bigger decision.
